Carminative

I'm not sure that "cure" is the right word here.

According to dictionary.com, a carminative is "a drug causing expulsion of gas from the stomach or bowel". Used as an adjective, 'carminative' means "expelling gas from the body; relieving flatulence."

It seems to me that if anything, a carminative would encourage flatulence rather than cure it. 'Relieve', the word used by dictionary.com, is probably better.

The word 'carminative' itself comes from the late Latin word 'carmen', a comb for carding wool. The idea is that the drug straightens out the knots in your digestive system, in the same way that the comb does for the wool.
